The San Antonio Foundation

In 2007 and through June 2008, nonprofit organizations had the opportunity to apply for funding from the TRIAD Fund of the San Antonio Area Foundation in order to provide for unmet needs of military personnel serving in Iraq or Afghanistan and their families. During that time, the Area Foundation re-granted $4.7 million to fund 38 projects in 29 agencies that are assisting military personnel and their families throughout South Central Texas. The projects provide an array of services for OEF/OIF families including emergency assistance, temporary lodging, mental health counseling, activities for families and children, and information and referral services to military families across South Central Texas.

In August 2008, the Area Foundation received an additional $7.5 million to expand and continue the TRIAD Fund for up to three years. With this award, the Area Foundation expanded its service area. The Area Foundation now serves the South Texas TRIAD Fund area, which covers South Texas and some parts of West Texas. Since 2008, the Area Foundation has provided over $4 million to nonprofit agencies serving OEF/OIF families.
